How to Transfer a Domain Away from VernalWeb to Another Registrar

Your domain belongs to you, and if you ever decide to manage it with another registrar, you are free to move it. The process is standardised across the industry, so once you know the three things every transfer needs — an unlocked domain, the EPP/auth code, and access to the admin email — it is straightforward.

We are sorry to see a domain go, but we would rather it be easy than painful. Here is exactly what to do.

Before you begin

  • The domain must be at least 60 days old and 60 days past its last transfer or registration — an ICANN rule, not ours.
  • It should not be within a few days of expiry. If it is close, renew it first so you do not lose it mid-transfer.

Step 1: Unlock the domain

  1. Log in to your client area.
  2. Go to Domains → My Domains and click Manage on the domain.
  3. Open Registrar Lock and switch it off.

Step 2: Get your EPP/auth code

The new registrar will ask for an authorisation code that proves the transfer is genuine. Grab yours from the same domain management screen — our guide on getting your EPP/auth code shows where. Also make sure domain privacy is temporarily off, as it can hide the admin contact the transfer needs.

Step 3: Start the transfer at the new registrar

  1. Begin the transfer order at your new registrar and enter your domain.
  2. Paste the EPP/auth code when prompted.
  3. Approve the confirmation email sent to your domain's admin address.

Step 4: Wait for it to complete

Transfers usually finish within 5 to 7 days. Your website and email keep working throughout, as long as your DNS records stay the same at the new home.

Frequently asked questions

Will my website go down during the transfer?

Not if your DNS is unchanged. A domain transfer moves who manages the registration, not where your site is hosted. Keep your DNS records identical and visitors will not notice.

Do I lose the time left on my registration?

No. Most transfers add a year and carry over your remaining time, so you do not lose what you have already paid for.

Can you help me move it?

Of course. If you get stuck on any step, open a support ticket and we will guide you through it.
