How to Migrate Your Email to VernalWeb

Switching to VernalWeb does not mean leaving your old emails behind. With a careful approach, you can bring across every message, folder and contact. The key is to use IMAP, which keeps mail on the server so it can be copied cleanly.

Step 1: Recreate your mailboxes

In your new hosting, create the same email addresses you had before — see creating an email account in cPanel. Use the same addresses so nothing changes for the people who email you.

Step 2: Set up both accounts in a mail app

The simplest way to move mail is with a desktop mail program like Outlook or Thunderbird:

Add your old email account using IMAP so all its folders appear.
Add your new VernalWeb account alongside it — see setting up email in Outlook.

Step 3: Copy the mail across

With both accounts visible, simply drag and drop (or copy) messages and folders from the old account into the new one. Because both use IMAP, the mail uploads to your new server as you go. Large mailboxes take a while, so let it finish.

Step 4: Switch your domain over

Once your mail is copied and tested, point your domain’s email to VernalWeb by updating your MX records or nameservers, then allow for DNS propagation. Keep the old account active until you are sure everything arrived.
