How to Add a Sub-Account or Additional Contact in the Client Area
Need to give a colleague, developer or accountant access to part of your account — without handing over your main login? A sub-account (also called an additional contact) is the answer. You control exactly what they can see and do, and you can remove their access at any time.
Add a contact or sub-account
- Log in to your client area.
- Open your profile menu and choose Contacts (or Contacts/Sub-Accounts).
- Select Add New Contact and enter their name and email.
- To let them log in, tick Activate Sub-Account and set a password.
- Save.
Choose their permissions
This is the important part. You can grant only the permissions each person needs, such as:
- View and pay invoices (great for an accountant).
- Open and manage support tickets (great for a developer).
- Manage products or domains.
- Receive specific email notifications like invoices or support replies.
Grant the least access needed for their role — you can always add more later.
Keep it secure
Give each person their own sub-account rather than sharing your main login, so you can track and revoke access individually. Encourage strong passwords and, where available, two-factor authentication.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a contact and a sub-account?
A contact simply receives certain emails. A sub-account can also log in to the client area with the permissions you assign.
Can I remove access later?
Yes — edit or delete the contact at any time to change permissions or revoke login access entirely.
Will a sub-account see my payment details?
Only if you grant billing permissions. Leave those unticked to keep invoices and payment info private.
