What is cPanel?

cPanel is the world’s most popular web hosting control panel, providing a graphical interface and automation tools that simplify website and server management. With cPanel, you can manage domains, email accounts, databases, files, and more — all from an intuitive web-based dashboard.

Accessing Your cPanel Account

To access your cPanel account at VernalWeb, follow these steps:

  • Go to clients.vernalweb.com and log in to your client area.
  • Navigate to Services → My Services.
  • Click on your hosting service.
  • Click the cPanel Access button on the sidebar — this will log you directly into cPanel.

Alternatively, you can access cPanel directly via:

  • URL: http://your-server.vernalweb.com:2083 or http://your-domain.com/cpanel
  • Username: Your cPanel username (created when your account was set up)
  • Password: Your cPanel password

cPanel Dashboard Overview

After logging in, you’ll see the cPanel home screen organized into sections:

Main Sections

  • Files: File Manager, FTP Accounts, Disk Usage
  • Databases: MySQL Databases, phpMyAdmin, Remote MySQL
  • Domains: Addon Domains, Subdomains, Redirects, Zone Editor
  • Email: Email Accounts, Forwarders, Autoresponders, Webmail
  • Security: SSL/TLS, IP Blocker, Hotlink Protection
  • Software: Softaculous, PHP Version, Cron Jobs
  • Advanced: Error Pages, Cron Jobs, Apache Handlers

Essential cPanel Tasks

Uploading Website Files

Use the File Manager in cPanel to upload and manage your website files:

  1. Open File Manager from the Files section.
  2. Navigate to the public_html directory (this is your website’s root folder).
  3. Click Upload and select your files.
  4. For WordPress or other CMS, upload files to public_html (or the appropriate subdirectory).

Creating a MySQL Database

Most websites (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) require a MySQL database:

  1. Go to MySQL Databases in the Databases section.
  2. Under Create New Database, enter a database name and click Create Database.
  3. Scroll down to MySQL Users, create a new username and strong password.
  4. Click Add User.
  5. Under Add User to Database, select the user and database, then click Add.
  6. Grant ALL PRIVILEGES and click Make Changes.
