How to Migrate a Website into Webuzo

Moving a website into Webuzo is very doable once you break it into three parts: your files, your database, and your email. Take them one at a time and the whole migration stays calm and controlled. Here is the safe way to do it.

Step 1: Copy your files

Download your website’s files from the old host (via FTP or its file manager), then upload them into your Webuzo account using the File Manager or an FTP account. Placing a single zip and extracting it on the server is fastest.

Step 2: Move your database

Export the database from your old host with phpMyAdmin, then import it into Webuzo. Create a matching database and user first, and update your site’s config file with the new details.

Step 3: Recreate email

Set up your mailboxes in Webuzo with the same addresses. For IMAP, you can then drag old mail across between accounts, or use a migration tool.

Step 4: Test before you switch

Preview your site on the server before changing DNS, so you can fix issues privately. Only when it looks right should you point your domain over by updating DNS — then allow for DNS propagation.
