Understanding cPanel – A Complete Beginner’s Guide

What is cPanel?

cPanel is the world’s most popular web hosting control panel, providing a graphical interface and automation tools that simplify website and server management. With cPanel, you can manage domains, email accounts, databases, files, and more.

Accessing Your cPanel Account

To access your cPanel account at VernalWeb:

  • Go to clients.vernalweb.com and log in to your client area.
  • Navigate to Services → My Services.
  • Click on your hosting service.
  • Click the cPanel Access button on the sidebar.

cPanel Dashboard Overview

After logging in, you’ll see the cPanel home screen organized into sections:

  • Files: File Manager, FTP Accounts, Disk Usage
  • Databases: MySQL Databases, phpMyAdmin, Remote MySQL
  • Domains: Addon Domains, Subdomains, Redirects, Zone Editor
  • Email: Email Accounts, Forwarders, Autoresponders, Webmail
  • Security: SSL/TLS, IP Blocker, Hotlink Protection
  • Software: Softaculous, PHP Version, Cron Jobs

Essential cPanel Tasks

Uploading Website Files

  1. Open File Manager from the Files section.
  2. Navigate to the public_html directory.
  3. Click Upload and select your files.

Creating a MySQL Database

  1. Go to MySQL Databases.
  2. Create a new database and user.
  3. Add the user to the database with ALL PRIVILEGES.

Creating Email Accounts

  1. Go to Email Accounts.
  2. Enter the email prefix and domain.
  3. Set a strong password and click Create.

Enabling SSL/HTTPS

  1. Go to SSL/TLS → Manage SSL Sites.
  2. Select your domain and click Autofill by Domain.
  3. Click Install.
