Update root Password for Linux VPS or Dedicated Servers using PuTTy

Very often they need to update Password of the root account. This task can easily be accomplished using PuTTy. Let’s learn how to update root password for Linux VPS or Dedicated Servers.

Update root Password for Linux VPS or Dedicated Servers

Login to your VPS or Dedicated Linux Server using PuTTy

STEP 1: Login to your server using PuTTy.

Change Password

STEP 2:  Type ‘passwd’ & hit ‘enter’ once you’re successfully logged in. It will prompt you to enter the ‘New password’. Enter the New password & hit ‘enter’. Again you’ll be prompted to enter the Password again. Type the Password again & hit ‘enter’. You’ll see a success report as in this image.

Congrats! You have successfully updated Password for the root account of your Linux VPS or Dedicated Server.
