How to Install a Free SSL Certificate in Control Web Panel (CWP)

Control Web Panel includes a Let's Encrypt manager, so you can secure any hosted domain with a free SSL certificate and switch it to HTTPS. Here is how to issue and apply one in CWP.

Before you start

The domain must already point to your CWP server, since Let's Encrypt verifies control of the domain during issuance. If you just set up the account, confirm DNS has propagated — see creating an account in CWP.

Step 1: Open the SSL manager

Log in to the CWP admin panel.
In the left menu, find the SSL Certificates section (Let's Encrypt manager / AutoSSL).

Step 2: Issue the certificate

Select the account or domain you want to secure.
Choose to issue a Let's Encrypt certificate, including the www version if you use it.
Confirm, and CWP verifies the domain and installs the certificate.

CWP applies the certificate to the domain's web server configuration automatically.

Step 3: Force HTTPS and test

Set the site to redirect to HTTPS so visitors always use the secure version, then load it with https:// and check for the padlock. If some resources still load over HTTP, see fixing mixed content.

Frequently asked questions

The certificate won't issue.

Usually the domain is not yet resolving to the server, so verification fails. Confirm the domain points to your server's IP and that no redirect is blocking the verification path, then retry.

Will CWP renew it automatically?

CWP's Let's Encrypt manager handles automatic renewal so certificates do not lapse. It is worth checking periodically that renewals are succeeding.

Can I use a paid certificate instead?
